Barefoot in the Park

by Neil Simon

Poster for Barefoot in the Park

ADLIB Drama Club presents Barefoot in the Park , a romantic comedy by Neil Simon that originally ran on Broadway from 1963 to 1967; it is Simon's longest running Broadway hit. Nominated for 3 Tony Awards in 1964, the play was also made into movie in 1967 and briefly revived on Broadway in 2006.

Summary: Straight-as-an-arrow lawyer Paul Bratter and free-spirited Corrie are newly wed and learning to live as a couple in Corrie's latest find: a new apartment that is too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job. After a six day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie's loopy mother and try to play matchmaker during a disastrous dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic Velasco. Through it all, Corrie thinks Paul just doesn't understand her and wants him to be a little more spontaneous; running "barefoot in the park" would be a start….
